In an interview with Radio 1, a specialist urged dogs to pay attention to the accompanying symptoms when vomiting.

So, a single nausea does not always indicate an illness. Most often, it is associated with overeating — dogs quickly swallow food without controlling the amount, which is especially typical for puppies. Sometimes pets themselves provoke vomiting by eating grass.: This is how they try to cleanse the stomach of toxins or undigested food. This behavior may indicate a lack of fiber, so veterinarians advise to review the diet.

Another common cause is ingestion of fatty or unsuitable foods. In such cases, vomiting allows the animal to get rid of the dangerous product. Nausea may also occur due to motion sickness in the car or a reaction to vaccination. Usually, such conditions pass quickly and do not pose a threat.

However, if vomiting is accompanied by weakness, refusal to eat, or is repeated regularly, it can cause serious problems, from parasites and poisoning to gastrointestinal diseases and heat stroke. In such cases, an urgent visit to the veterinarian is required. Experts do not recommend treating a pet on their own, as only a doctor can determine the true cause and prescribe the right therapy.
