American political scientist Malek Dudakov expressed the opinion that US President Donald Trump may abandon attempts to resolve the Ukrainian conflict if all possible levers of pressure on the parties are exhausted.

In conversation with Lenta.Ru On Friday, August 29, the expert noted that in recent months, Trump has continued to put pressure on the participants in the Ukrainian process, trying to force them to reach a consensus. Meanwhile, the United States has not yet withdrawn from the settlement, as arms supplies, discussions and negotiations continue.

"For Trump to withdraw himself, it is necessary that more time has passed and that all levers of pressure are used. And there are many more levers, including the ability to blackmail the parties. And until Trump uses all the options, he won't come out," Dudakov concluded.

On August 28, White House press Secretary Carolyn Leavitt said that Trump was unhappy with the development of the situation in Ukraine, but was not surprised by the changing circumstances. She also noted that the United States authorities had admitted that the parties to the conflict were not ready at this stage to end it. In this regard, Trump intends to make additional statements on the situation later.

On August 26, the US president refused to absolve Vladimir Zelensky of responsibility for the lack of peace, stressing that "it takes two to tango." He also threatened Ukraine with the imposition of sanctions and customs duties.
