Demand for rental of electric scooters decreased in Russia in 2025
In April-August 2025, demand for electric scooter rentals across Russia decreased by 6% compared to the same period last year. This was reported on August 29 by Kommersant with reference to information from the fiscal data operator OFD Platform. The most pronounced drop in demand was in Moscow — by 10%.
The average receipt for kicksharing services continued to grow during this period. In Russia as a whole, it increased by 13% year—on-year, to 302 rubles, and in Moscow - by 11%, to 353 rubles.
The interlocutors of the publication listed several reasons for the decrease in demand for kicksharing services. One of them was the bad weather in the central part of the country with the postponement of the start of the season from March to June. Others were interruptions in the operation of the mobile Internet, regional industry regulations with restrictions or a complete ban on electric scooters, as well as a general decrease in consumer activity (citizens are reducing unnecessary spending).
The results of the summer season turned out to be significantly worse than business expectations. In April, experts from the Trushering publication predicted that the volume of the kicksharing market would grow by 30% this year, to 40.6 billion rubles.
On August 25, the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate announced a citywide preventive event on the eve of the new school year. It will be held from August 25 to September 5. On September 1, the entrances to all schools will be under special control of traffic inspectors, and traffic police posts will be close to them. In each district of the capital, traffic police will hold various events, promotions and briefings with schoolchildren and their parents.
