- The Prosecutor General's Office demanded that the Muzyka publishing house be returned to the state
The Russian Prosecutor General's Office demands that the assets of the head of the Muzyka publishing house be seized for violating anti-corruption legislation. This was announced on August 29 by a source of Izvestia.
Mark Silberquit, a US citizen, has been the director of the publishing house since 2004. According to the investigation, he organized a fictitious auction in 2012 with the help of controlled companies and illegally seized the company along with its unique collection of sheet music. The deal was concluded at a price of 8.4 million rubles with violations of the bidding procedure.
As a result, the state was forced to pay for access to the national cultural heritage, and inflated prices for publications complicated the work of music schools, the Prosecutor General's Office noted. The actual beneficiaries of the scheme were Silberquit himself, his wife and business partner Anastasia Yurgenson.
The Prosecutor's Office demands the return of assets to the state, the seizure of all movable and immovable property, funds of organizations, and the prohibition of any actions to alienate assets. Mark Silberquit, his wife and Anastasia Jurgenson may be banned from leaving the country.
The lawsuit was filed in the Perovsky Court of Moscow and is considered as part of a large-scale anti-corruption fight by the Prosecutor General's Office, which is under the personal control of Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov.
On July 11, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation filed a lawsuit for 924 million rubles against Rustem Zainullin, Deputy Governor of the Belgorod Region, and several others accused of fraud. It was clarified that the defendants in the case are accused of fraud with funds allocated for construction. A total of 19.5 billion rubles were allocated from the state budget to the persons named in the lawsuit for the construction of fortifications. At the same time, the companies involved in the scheme, LLC Region Siberia and LLC Stroyinvestreserv, did not fulfill their obligations.
