- The teacher spoke about the important nuances in preparing for university admission.
At the beginning of the 11th grade, students face a difficult task: to decide which university to continue their education at, and to build their own path to the goal. Not only the successful passing of exams, but also the future professional trajectory largely depends on how conscious and systematic the preparation for admission is. On September 1, Victoria Podsukhina, a teacher and head of regional teaching at the educational company MAXIMUM, told Izvestia about how to prepare for university admission in a year.
Choosing a future specialty and educational institution is a task that requires a careful approach. Many graduates experience stress when faced with the need to make decisions that will affect their lives for years to come. Uncertainty, fear of missed opportunities, pressure from parents and peers can all become an additional source of anxiety. However, a systematic approach to planning the year can reduce stress levels and increase the chances of admission to university.
"The first and key step should be to determine the direction of study. You should not be guided only by the prestige of the profession or the opinion of others. It is important to listen to yourself: which subjects are easier, what causes sincere interest, in which areas I would like to develop," the teacher advised.
To do this, you can take a career guidance test, communicate with students and university representatives at open days, study study programs and requirements for applicants. Already in September, it makes sense to make a preliminary list of five to seven universities and areas that seem most suitable.
When choosing a university, it is also important to determine personal priorities and opportunities: the form and cost of tuition, the possibility of relocation, living conditions, and additional factors such as scholarships or extracurricular activities. It is recommended to apply to several universities in order to increase the chances of admission and have backup options.
In addition, to make an informed decision, it is useful to study the ratings of universities, reflecting their scientific reputation, the demand for graduates and other criteria. It is also worth attending open days, educational exhibitions, and communicating with university representatives to get up-to-date first-hand information and make a final choice.
"After the range of possible options is determined, it is important to analyze the list of exams required for admission. As a rule, these are the results of the Unified State Exam in two or three specialized subjects. It is not necessary to postpone the preparation for the last months — intensive work should be carried out throughout the year," the expert said.
She recommended taking the time not only to study new material, but also to regularly repeat the lessons learned. You should create a schedule of classes that will include both independent work and, if necessary, courses or tutoring sessions.
Podsukhina noted that it is important to remember that consistency is the key to success. Familiarize yourself in advance with the rules for applying to universities, the dates of exams and additional entrance examinations. This will help to avoid the fuss in the last days before applying.
It is important not to forget about the additional opportunities provided by universities. Many universities hold Olympiads, where winning or winning a place gives benefits upon admission — from extra points to enrollment without exams. Participation in such events not only increases the chances of admission, but also allows you to test your knowledge.
Psychological attitude is equally important. The year of preparation for admission is a marathon, not a sprint. To avoid burnout, it is necessary to distribute the load correctly and not forget about rest. You need to integrate hobbies, meetings with friends, and physical activity into your schedule. Also, discuss your plans with your parents — their support can be an important resource during this period.
"We need to be prepared for the fact that plans can be adjusted. Perhaps, during the preparation process, the applicant will realize that he has chosen the wrong direction, or he will discover that another university offers a more interesting program. This is normal — the main thing is to remain flexible and respond promptly to changes in plans," the teacher concluded.
On August 26, it was reported that the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation proposes to make all budget places in the main programs of higher medical education targeted. The Ministry also proposed to oblige target doctors to pay compensation in three times the amount for refusing to complete training.
