Russians told about their feelings on the eve of the first of September
Every sixth parent is happy about the start of the school season and the child's return to school, and a third feels nostalgic about their own school years. Analysts of Skysmart, an online school for children and teenagers, told Izvestia on August 311.
According to the survey, Knowledge Day causes contradictory feelings among Russians — from light sadness to anxiety, but not many are indifferent to it. Every third Russian (30%) feels nostalgic and remembers his school years with sadness and warmth.
For the majority, the beginning of the school year is associated with their own child: one in five (20%) worries about how the child will study, and parents of older students feel a sense of pride: he is already such an adult and independent (23%).
Some parents are happy about the start of the school season and note a sense of relief and joy that the child will be busy again and will return to school (16%), and 5% reported feeling worried about the child's relationship with classmates. Only 6% of Russians noted that they are indifferent to the first of September.
"The first of September is a powerful emotional trigger for several generations. Worrying about a child's success and adaptation is absolutely normal, but it's worth redirecting this energy to create confidence for him that the new school year is an interesting adventure, not a test," says Anastasia Yekushevskaya, academic director of Skysmart.
Earlier, on May 20, Kristina Ivanenko, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Associate Professor at the Presidential Academy (RANEPA), told how parents can help a student decide on a future profession. The specialist noted that parents should not take the position of an expert, but rather become a mentor for the child and together with him look for ways to solve the problem.
