The Second Moscow International Publishing Week will be held in the capital on September 9-14. Book presentations, lectures, workshops and expert discussions will be organized at city venues, Deputy Mayor Natalia Sergunina said.

"About 50 publishers from Russia, Serbia, Turkey, Argentina, China, India and 12 other countries have already confirmed their participation," Sergunina said. According to her, representatives of the industry will hold business negotiations, discuss the prospects for exporting books and the preferences of readers.

During the business program in the creative space "AKI.lab" will host sessions and discussions on product promotion in the markets of different countries, cultural exchange and other issues. Also, a "School of young translators" will work during the week, the participants of which will prepare a collection of "16 trips. Moscow Routes in the stories of modern writers" to be released in Turkey next year. To do this, experts will meet with the authors of the stories and adapt the texts for a foreign audience.

The organizers have prepared presentations, master classes, concerts and meetings with writers for citizens and tourists. For example, lectures on significant events in history and the development of publishing will be held on Sretensky Boulevard as part of the Book in the City project, and literary guidebooks for Moscow will be presented on Pushkin Square.

In Moscow, about 12,000 organizations are engaged in publishing activities — 10.6% of all companies in the creative industries. Their total turnover last year exceeded 349 billion rubles.
