Russians bought more than 80,000 cars with state support in 2025
Since the beginning of 2025, citizens of Russia have purchased more than 80 thousand cars with state support. This was announced by First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov on August 29.
This year, more than 24 billion rubles have been allocated to preferential programs to support demand for cars in Russia, Manturov said, according to TASS. The Deputy Prime Minister recalled the resumption of the Family Car program in May this year.
According to Autostat, 651,000 new passenger cars were sold in Russia in the first seven months of 2025, which is 23.9% less than in January —July last year.
As previously stated by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Anton Alikhanov, the agency expects to finance the program of preferential car loans for 10 billion rubles by the end of September.
On May 22, it was reported that AvtoVAZ and the Ministry of Industry and Trade are discussing a mechanism for directly subsidizing discounts on car purchases. According to Sergey Gromak, AVTOVAZ's vice president for External Relations and shareholder Relations, in this case, the manufacturer will be able to directly give discounts to customers, bypassing the inflated interest rates of banks on loans.
Cars with internal combustion engines costing up to 2 million rubles, which score at least 2 thousand localization points, now fall under the terms of the preferential car loan program. These are all Lada, VIS, UAZ, Moskvich 3 and GAZ models (gross weight up to 3.5 tons). Also, as part of preferential car loans, all categories of borrowers can purchase electric vehicles and sequential hybrids produced in the Russian Federation at a 35% discount, but not more than 925 thousand rubles.
