Russians have been warned about punishment for picking certain types of mushrooms.
Russians over the age of 16 face fines or criminal penalties for collecting rare, endangered or psychotropic mushrooms. This was announced on August 28 by civil lawyer Alla Georgieva.
"Administrative responsibility will come for the destruction of rare and endangered fungi. And already criminal — for especially valuable species, those listed in the Red Book, protected by international treaties, or for narcotic and psychotropic drugs," she said in an interview with RT.
The word "destruction", as the expert explained, means cutting off the foot of the mushroom. According to Georgieva, a fine of 2 to 5 thousand rubles is provided for an individual for this action, and from 300 thousand to 1 million rubles for a legal entity.
The lawyer noted that criminal liability for collecting mushrooms prohibited for cutting would occur if their species was protected. These include over 200 varieties of mushrooms, which include ryadovka, red trellis, Alpine hedgehog and various types of fly agaric.
She said that in this case, the violator could face correctional, forced, and compulsory labor for up to 480 hours or imprisonment for up to four years.
The sanction in the form of imprisonment is imposed depending on the specific case, for example, as Georgieva explained, if a person has collected a large number of protected mushrooms or has previously committed the same actions.
On August 15, the owner of alpaca farms, entrepreneur Vasily Zhayvoronok, in an interview with Izvestia, noted the growing popularity of ecotourism in Russia. In his opinion, every year more and more Russians prefer outdoor recreation, which includes picking berries and mushrooms. Such leisure, accompanied by a careful attitude to nature, as Zhayvoronok emphasized, will allow people to be more attentive to the world around them.
