The US State Department has approved the sale of aviation ammunition to Ukraine
The US State Department has approved the potential sale of more than 3,000 ERAM missiles to Ukraine. This was announced on August 28 on the website of the Agency for Defense Cooperation (DSCA).
"The US State Department has decided to approve the possible sale of aviation ammunition and related equipment to the government of Ukraine in the amount of $825 million," the press release said.
The statement emphasizes that Kiev has sent Washington a request for the purchase of up to 3,350 missiles, as well as related systems, including navigation equipment and jamming equipment. The United States, in turn, expressed its readiness to sell Ukraine not only missiles, but also other necessary equipment.
Kiev plans to pay for the weapons using funds provided by Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway and the United States.
The agency clarified that this deal meets the interests of US foreign policy and national security. It will strengthen the security of the allied countries, which, according to the White House, are the driving force behind political stability and economic progress in Europe.
DSCA reported on August 27 that the US State Department approved the potential sale of AIM-9X Sidewinder missiles and related equipment to the NATO agency. According to the published document, this delivery and related support will not affect the existing military balance in the region.
