Given the significant delay in the start of the rescue operation, Russian swimmer Nikolai Svechnikov's chances of survival in the circumstances are extremely low. This was announced on August 28 by the senior on-site search and rescue team "LizaAlert" Evgeny Slizovsky.

"The rescue operation began with a lot of delay <...>: the later they started, the lower the probability of finding a living person," the rescuer said in an interview with TASS.
