US President Donald Trump, along with his son-in-law Jared Kushner and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, discussed the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian radical movement Hamas, and also talked about the post-war future of the Gaza Strip. This was reported on August 28 by The New York Times (NYT), citing sources.

"On Wednesday (August 27. President Trump held a lengthy meeting in the Oval Office dedicated to the post—war future of the Gaza Strip. <...> Trump spoke in general terms about a bright future for Gaza," the newspaper quoted his interlocutors as saying.

According to people familiar with the conversation, which lasted about an hour and a half, the head of the White House did not discuss the future of the Gazans in his speech — he was thinking about turning the territory they occupied into a resort.

In addition to Kushner and Blair, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff also attended the meeting. The meeting itself took place after Rubio's talks with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar on the same day.

On August 27, Reuters reported that Israel rejected the idea of a potential state of Palestine. Saar, who made this statement after meeting with the American side, noted that the dialogue with representatives of the United States was "very good."
