A policeman was accidentally shot during a chase in Makhachkala

In Makhachkala, police officers accidentally shot another policeman during a chase. A bullet fired by a law enforcement officer ricocheted into the man's car, as a result, he was fatally wounded. A source told Izvestia about this on August 28.

According to him, the police, together with employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate, tried to stop the offending motorist and opened fire on his Toyota Camry car.

"The traffic police officer opened fire on the wheels of the violator's car in order to stop and detain him. The bullet ricocheted into another car, a LADA Priora, in which there was a police officer," the source said.

A law enforcement official who was wounded in the eye area died. It is specified that the violator was detained — he has now been taken to the city police department.

On August 10, the press service of the investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Arkhangelsk Region reported the death of a policeman as a result of an operation to detain an arsonist of railway tracks. The suspect, at whose address the squad arrived, opened fire on law enforcement officers, firing at least two shots in their direction.
