- The editor-in-chief of Compact spoke about the popularity of the coin with Putin in Germany
A silver coin dedicated to Russian President Vladimir Putin, issued by the German magazine Compact, is enjoying great success in Germany. On August 28, Izvestia was informed about this by the editor-in-chief of the publication, Jurgen Elsasser.
"In the 15 years of our magazine's existence, we have had the biggest sales success. We sold 820 coins in four days. Mostly from East Germany, that is, from the territory of the former GDR," he said.
According to Elsasser, none of the previously issued coins were in such demand. It is specified that 2 thousand coins will be issued in the first circulation, however, if necessary, their number can be increased to 10 thousand. More than 900 coins have already been sold, and demand continues.
The editor-in-chief added that he plans to give Putin a copy of the coin with his image.
"There is an option to send the medal to the Kremlin through the embassy. Or our editor is invited to a conference in Russia, where [official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry] Maria Zakharova will also be present, and he can take the medal with him and give it to her," added the editor-in-chief of Compact.
Andre Poggenburg, an official representative of Compact magazine, informed Izvestia on August 27 that the publication had presented a silver coin dedicated to the Russian leader. The Compact representative explained that the decision to issue the coin is related to the intention to symbolically express support for Putin. He noted that the magazine decided not to limit itself to protests and publications, but to give the Russian president a positive sign.
