- Alikhanov noted the more than twofold growth of the fashion market in Russia in five years
The fashion market in Russia has more than doubled over the past five years, and today its value is estimated at 500 billion rubles. This was announced on August 28 by Anton Alikhanov, Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, at the BRICS+ Fashion Summit.
"In terms of pieces, this is about 1 billion different fashion items. According to the forecasts of the same experts, we will grow in the range from 5% to 7% annually in the future until 2036," the minister said.
He noted that these are the basic indicators that the department relied on when developing new projects and strategies related to the light industry. In the retail trade, the sales turnover of fashion products has also seen a significant increase.
"Actually, the success of 12 STOREEZ, Lime and many, many other [domestic brands] is the result of the market being liberated, and our Russian manufacturers have occupied some of these niches," Alikhanov added.
In July, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced that thanks to the "Made in Moscow" project, the capital's brands had additionally increased their revenue by more than 600 million rubles in the first six months of this year. This figure exceeds the results for the same period in 2024 by four times. The project's website features more than 36,000 products from the capital's brands.
The BRICS+ Fashion Summit International Forum is taking place at the Zaryadye Concert Hall in Moscow from August 28 to 30. The summit has organized daily industrial plenary sessions and discussions, the exhibition "Native Motifs" and much more.
