The area of fires caused by a night attack by a drone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the territory of the Gelendzhik forestry reached 32 hectares. This was announced on Thursday, August 28, by the Governor of the Krasnodar Territory, Veniamin Kondratiev.
"Four sites are currently burning there, unfortunately, due to strong winds, the fire area has increased to 32 hectares. More than 330 people are fighting the fire, and volunteers have come to help along with professional rescuers," Kondratiev wrote on his Telegram channel.
According to him, about 80 pieces of equipment, a helicopter and an aircraft of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations were involved in extinguishing the fire. Kondratiev noted that in the near future, the fire control group will be increased.
"On my instructions, the operational headquarters is working on the spot. I am grateful to everyone who participates in the elimination of the fire," Veniamin Kondratiev concluded.
A fire in a forest area in Gelendzhik after the wreckage of an APU drone fell occurred earlier in the day. According to the head of the resort city, Alexei Bogodistov, a recreation center in Gelendzhik is being evacuated, which is located next to a forest burning due to falling debris from a Ukrainian drone. It was noted that no one was injured as a result of the incident.
