The import of peaches from China through Transbaikalia increased 2.5 times

The import of fresh peaches from China to Russia through the Zabaikalsk automobile checkpoint increased 2.5 times in a year. This was reported by the press service of the Rosselkhoznadzor regional office on Thursday, August 28.

Since the beginning of 2025, 220 batches of the product with a total weight of 2,024 tons have been imported. During the same period a year earlier, 788 tons of peaches were imported, writes ChitaMedia news agency.

As the examination showed, in 21 batches the products were infected with quarantine facilities. Four types of pests were identified in the fruits — the Comstock worm, the oriental and peach fruitworm, and the western flower thrips. All the infected peaches were decontaminated.
