In the Saratov region, the volume of construction and production of agricultural products is decreasing. Vladimir Putin drew attention to this at a meeting with the governor of the region, Roman Busargin, which took place on August 28. The head of the region said that the decline was due to frosts that affected the harvest, but now agriculture is "feeling pretty confident." The governor also promised to increase the commissioning of housing. Other topics discussed by Putin and Busargin included the large—scale modernization of Saratov's tram network and the revival of regular river passenger services 30 years later.

What Putin and Busargin discussed at the meeting

First of all, the President of Russia and the Governor of the Saratov region discussed the support of their participants and their family members. Roman Busargin stressed that special attention is being paid to their adaptation and employment: almost 500 fighters and their loved ones have already been employed. In total, 37 regional support measures are provided for military personnel and their families in the region.

Work in this area is not limited to social assistance: the first regional museum of a special military operation has appeared in the Saratov region. Cooperation also continues with the sponsored Svatovsky district of Lugansk, where almost 20 facilities have already been restored.

Landmark projects have also been launched specifically for the Saratov region. It is one of the nine regions of the Russian Federation that have been included in the program for the modernization of the tram network. Its last large-scale renovation was carried out more than 40 years ago. At the same time, part of the rolling stock has been updated, 121 km of tracks have been repaired, and additional routes have been opened, on which 34 new trams operate. Their speed doubled, which doubled the passenger traffic. The authorities predict that due to this, people will use private transport less, which will relieve roads and have a positive impact on the environment.

30 years later, river passenger transportation was revived. About 12,000 people are planned to be transported along the Volga in 2025 on Valdai vessels, and 70,000 in 2026, Roman Busargin said. One such vessel connects three major cities — Balakovo, Engels and Saratov. Travel time is just under four hours.

— This is very important for us, because the length of the Volga River in the Saratov region is 400 km. People have this opportunity," said the head of the region.

Healthcare in the region has also reached a new level. Thanks to the new cancer center, the percentage of cancer detection at an early stage has increased to 69%. As the infrastructure improves, mortality associated with diseases of the circulatory system decreases by 8.5%, respiratory organs by 12.5%, and infectious diseases by 18%.

At the same time, Roman Busargin asked Vladimir Putin to support the construction of a new building for the regional clinical psychiatric hospital. Now it is located in 20 buildings — cultural heritage sites built in 1908-1910, their wear is 70-82%.

The President drew attention to the problems with emergency housing and the pace of construction in the region. 13 thousand people from 30 thousand square meters have already been resettled from emergency housing, but people still live on 710 thousand square meters. m.

The slowdown in construction in 2024 was due to a reduction in mortgage lending, the governor explained, promising to remedy the situation. This year, the task is to commission 1.25 million square meters. m of housing compared to 1 million sq . m . m last year.

Agriculture is also showing a decline, the president noted. As Roman Busargin clarified, this is due to last year's frosts. Nevertheless, the region ranks sixth in the country in terms of gross grain harvest and first in sunflower harvesting.

— At the moment, agriculture feels quite confident, and everything that has been planted is sprouting, losses are small, — said the governor.
