"We decided that we should collect wild hops. The only option is to create your own unique hop variety," said Igor Matveev, a leading technology expert at Baltika.

The demand for it is huge. Until recently, hops were imported by the ton from Germany, the Czech Republic and the USA, but now the focus is on the development of domestic crop production.

Brewer Oleg Savchenko opened his brewery a year ago. There are even varieties with added protein.
