So, in the Oryol region, in the evening, on 2 km of the Livny—Navesnoye regional highway, a 22-year-old motorist with less than a year of driving experience drove over to the side of the road intended for oncoming traffic, where he collided with an intercity bus traveling in the opposite direction without passengers. The bus was driven by a 23-year-old driver with less than two years of driving experience. As a result of the accident, a 15-year-old passenger of a car was killed, who was in the front seat and was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. Another passenger in the car was hospitalized with injuries.
The State Traffic Inspectorate reminded motorists that child passengers are one of the most vulnerable categories among underage road users. While driving in a car with a child or teenager, it is important to choose a safe driving style, not to be distracted at the wheel, not to exceed the set speed limit, observe a safe side interval and distance between vehicles, and refrain from risky driving, overtaking and driving into oncoming traffic, even in permitted places.
We urge inexperienced drivers to always be especially attentive, collected and disciplined when driving a vehicle. Remember that not only your life and health depend on your driving skills, driving experience, well-being and law-abiding driving behavior, but also the lives and health of other road users.
