- FT has learned about the preparation of the United States for the presentation of the plan on security guarantees for Ukraine
The United States is preparing to provide its own security guarantee plan for Ukraine. This was reported on August 28 by the Financial Times (FT) newspaper, citing sources.
"Officials say that an approximate plan for security guarantees may be presented 'soon,'" the material says.
It is noted that in order to implement these measures, Washington needs to obtain Moscow's consent to deploy a foreign military contingent in Ukraine.
According to the publication, the United States intends to provide intelligence resources and control over the line of operations to any Western defense forces in Ukraine after the conflict and to participate in the European air defense system (air defense).
At the same time, the American side can also provide Western troops involved in security guarantees with intelligence, surveillance, command and control structures, and critical systems to maintain the air security of Ukrainian territory.
On August 26, the FT stated that the United States is ready to support Ukraine with intelligence after the end of the Ukrainian conflict, as well as to participate in the European-led air defense shield of the country. At the same time, the United States continues to oppose the deployment of its own troops in Ukraine.
On August 19, Bloomberg reported that about 10 countries had expressed their willingness to send troops to Ukraine as part of providing possible security guarantees for Kiev. It was noted that this was clarified during the summit of European officials. The meeting was devoted to a plan for the possible deployment of French and British troops to Ukraine in the event of a peace agreement.
