- Reuters has learned about Israel's rejection of the idea of creating a state of Palestine
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said his country rejects the idea of a potential state of Palestine. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on Wednesday, August 27.
"Saar, responding on Wednesday to a question about the plan for the creation of a Palestinian state, stated that there would be no plans," the publication says.
The Israeli Foreign Minister made the corresponding statement after a meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, which took place in Washington. According to Saar, the conversation with the American side was "very good."
On August 10, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the absence of a unified Palestinian state the main problem that caused his state to have problems in relations with the Gaza Strip.
Later, on August 20, Netanyahu accused French President Emmanuel Macron of anti-Semitism for his calls for recognition of the state of Palestine. On August 26, the French leader called the accusation "an insult to the whole of France."
