Hungary has never advocated for Ukraine's accelerated admission to the European Union (EU). This was announced on August 27 by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto at a meeting with readers of the Mandiner magazine.

"We have never advocated Ukraine's accelerated accession to the European Union. Such an accelerated entry would be a tragedy for Hungary and the entire European Union. If someone is able to realistically and rationally assess the impact of the Ukrainian accession on Hungary and on European integration in general, they will see that this would be the last fatal blow for the European Union," Szijjarto said, the broadcast was posted on his Facebook (owned by Meta, its activities are recognized as extremist and banned in Russia Russian Federation).

Szijjarto also shared that he is under a lot of pressure. According to him, during every meeting of the Council of EU Foreign Ministers, his position is called "pro-Russian" and his statements "a betrayal for Europe."

"And if there are hysterics about the Russians [allegedly] interfering in the Hungarian elections, then please, it's not the Russians who are interfering, but the European Commission, Brussels, the EPP (European People's Party. — Ed.) and personally von der Leyen," the ambassador summed up.

Russia's permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, said earlier that day that Ukraine would not be able to join the EU because the Kiev regime had made the perpetrators of the Volyn massacre national heroes. He commented on the statement by Polish Defense Minister Vladislav Kosinyak-Kamysh, who noted that Kiev has no chance of joining the EU until it resolves the issue of the Volyn massacre.
