The national flags of the United States over the White House and other administrative buildings of the country will be lowered at half-mast in memory of those killed in the shooting at a Catholic school in Minnesota. The corresponding order of the American President Donald Trump was published on August 27 on the website of the White House press service.
"As a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence committed on August 27, 2025 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The U.S. flag was flown at half-mast at the White House and on all public buildings and territories. At all military posts and naval bases, as well as on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States, their territories and possessions, until sunset on August 31, 2025," the text says.
In addition, according to the document, during the same time, flags will be flown at half-mast at all embassies, diplomatic missions, consular offices and other institutions of the United States abroad, including all military installations and naval vessels and stations.
The shooting occurred earlier in the day. Later, the Reuters news agency reported that three people died as a result of the tragedy, including two children and the attacker himself, who committed suicide.
