The U.S. State Department has approved the potential sale of AIM-9X Sidewinder missiles and related equipment to the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) for a total of $103.9 million. This was announced on August 27 on the website of the Agency for Defense Cooperation (DSCA).

"The State Department has decided to approve the possible sale of AIM-9X Sidewinder missiles and related equipment to the NATO Agency for Supply and Procurement in the amount of $103.9 million," the press release said.

It clarifies that this deal meets the interests of US foreign policy and national security. It will strengthen the security of NATO's allied countries, which play a key role in ensuring the political stability and economic development of the North Atlantic region.

In addition, the sale will enhance NATO's capabilities to counter current and future threats by providing air-to-air missiles and guidance systems for F-35 fighter jets, which will enhance the alliance's defense capabilities.

At the same time, according to the published document, this supply and related support will not affect the existing military balance in the region.

On August 6, the US State Department approved the sale of equipment and repair services for M777 howitzers to Ukraine in the amount of $104 million. It was specified that Kiev will also be provided with a package of cargo transportation services and all the necessary equipment.
