Olympic swimming champion Yuri Prisekin has died at the age of 63.

Olympic swimming champion Yuri Prisekin died at the age of 64. This was reported by the Russian Federation of Water Sports (FVVSR).

"On August 24, 2025, Yuri Ivanovich Prisekin, an outstanding Soviet swimmer, Olympic champion in 1980, and Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, died at the age of 63," reads a statement posted on the official website.

The cause of death is not specified. Prisekin won gold as a member of the Soviet team in the 4×200 m freestyle relay at the 1980 Olympic Games. He participated in the preliminary heat, contributing to the overall victory.

From 1984-1990, Prisekin was the head of the Olympic Training Center at the SKA Swimming Pool. Later, the athlete worked for the Swimming Federation of the Samara region.
