Three residents of Tatarstan are accused of embezzling 1.1 billion rubles from members of a housing cooperative. This was announced on August 27 by the press service of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation.

"The investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan have completed the investigation of a criminal case against the chairman of the board of the Triumph-NK housing cooperative, his deputy, and the chief accountant, accused of committing a crime under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud")," reads a message posted on Telegram -the department's channel.

It is clarified that from 2004 to 2020, the defendants stole the funds of 1985 citizens under various pretexts: the conclusion of agreements on joining the cooperative, the payment of entrance fees, membership fees and other payments, the purchase of housing for cooperative members.

At the moment, the property and funds of Triumph-NK, as well as the real estate of the accused, have been seized. The criminal case has been sent to court.

Earlier, on August 25, a criminal case was opened in St. Petersburg on embezzlement of 2 million rubles for the supply of escalator parts for metro stations under construction. It was clarified that the officials did not fulfill their obligations and stole the money allocated as an advance.
