- In Poland, they proposed to revoke citizenship after insulting Navrotsky by a journalist
The head of the Office of the President of Poland, Zbigniew Bogutsky, proposed reviewing the provisions governing the deprivation of acquired citizenship after the case when Ukrainian journalist Vitaly Mazurenko called President Karol Nawrocki a "criminal leader" in prison on air.
"This case is an occasion for serious discussion of the issue of introducing into the Polish legal system provisions governing the deprivation of citizenship acquired through naturalization, for example, following the model of decisions in force in the United States, Germany, as well as in other countries," he wrote on his page on the social network X (former. Twitter).
Bogutsky also stressed that Mazurenko should be held accountable for publicly insulting the Polish president.
"This behavior of a Ukrainian who has received Polish citizenship clearly confirms the validity of the initiative of the President of the Republic of Poland to extend the period of permanent residence in our country to 10 years, after which you can apply for Polish citizenship," he said.
The head of the chancellery stressed that the country's citizenship should be an "exceptional honor" and put Poland's interests first. It also obliges to comply with the laws and respect the constitutional bodies of the republic.
The day before, Poland demanded that Ukraine apologize after a Ukrainian journalist called Navrotsky a "criminal leader" on the air. Sebastian Kaleta, a member of the Law and Justice Party (PiS), also clarified that he expects an investigation into the case of insulting the Polish president to begin.
