The Prosecutor's Office of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) has sent a criminal case against a mercenary from Brazil to the court. This was announced on August 27 by the press service of the department.
"The Prosecutor's Office of the Donetsk People's Republic has approved an indictment in a criminal case against Diniz de Carvalho Dantas Isak, a 33-year-old citizen of the Federative Republic of Brazil. He is charged in absentia under Part 3 of Article 359 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Participation of a mercenary in an armed conflict")," the report says.
According to the investigation, Isak arrived in Ukraine in the fall of 2023 through a Polish border checkpoint. There, he voluntarily became a member of the International Legion.
A mercenary from Brazil, having completed military training at training bases, has mastered the necessary skills to participate in combat operations. In addition, he was also provided with weapons.
In January 2024, Isak transferred to the 59th separate Motorized infantry Brigade named after Yakov Gandzyuk of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). As part of it, he participated in combat operations against the Russian military until June 2024. For this, he received a financial reward in the amount of over 800 thousand rubles.
According to the DPR prosecutor's office, the mercenary was put on the international wanted list. A preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen against him in absentia.
On August 20, the Russian Prosecutor General's Office sentenced American mercenary David Ryan O'Leary (listed as a terrorist and extremist) to 28 years in prison in absentia with a fine of 1.6 million rubles. It was clarified that he participated in the Ukrainian conflict on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the convicted man received a reward of over 3.1 million rubles for his actions.
