The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry appealed to the United Nations in connection with the "hostile" transfer of ships of the US Navy to the Caribbean Sea. This was announced on August 25 by the head of the Ministry, Ivan Gil Pinto.

"The Permanent Mission of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the United Nations is forced to inform through this channel about the escalation of hostile actions and threats from the US government," he wrote in his Telegram channel.

The attached photos of the official statement note that Venezuela regards the appearance of American warships, which include ships such as the missile cruiser USS Lake Erie and the high-speed nuclear submarine USS Newport News, as a threat to the entire world. In addition, the country considered this gesture to be a lack of confidence.

Pinto stressed that the appearance of ships in the region is expected by the beginning of next week — this information has been confirmed through "numerous" international channels.

On August 14, Reuters reported on the White House's plans to deploy its ships in the southern Caribbean. US President Donald Trump personally commissioned this operation to combat drug cartels to the Pentagon.

The next day, CNN learned about the dispatch of over 4,000 marines and sailors to the waters of Latin America. These additional forces, as specified, will be required to eliminate threats that may be provided to the security of the United States.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
