Rescuers evacuated 17 people from a flooded village on Sakhalin
Emergency workers evacuate residents of flooded houses in the village of Kolkhoznoye, Sakhalin region, after the Kazachka River reaches the floodplain. This was announced on August 27 by the press service of the main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region.
"Due to congestion at the mouth of the Kazachka River, a surge wave and heavy precipitation in the form of rain, it is difficult for water to reach the open sea, and therefore the river has reached the floodplain," the agency clarified in the Telegram channel.
It is specified that seven houses were flooded in the village, the water level in them reaches about a meter. A local road bridge was also damaged, which led to the isolation of 24 private houses where 34 people live.
The local administration has prepared a temporary accommodation facility based on one of the hotels. Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and representatives of the Nevelsky district administration are working on the site.
For security reasons, the village was temporarily de-energized. There were no casualties, the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
A source from Izvestia reported on August 3 that flooding in the Krasnodar Territory had destroyed a bridge connecting two banks in the village. It was clarified that part of the structure had gone with the flow.
