In front of the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad, protesters used physical force to prevent police officers called by the dean from approaching the building. This was announced on August 26 by the country's Interior Minister Ivica Dacic.

"The gathered protesters, who were blocking the passage, tried to prevent the arrival of police special forces. They not only verbally protested, but also physically pushed them away," he was quoted as saying on the website of the Serbian Interior Ministry.

A source told Izvestia that the police are currently trying not to use force against the protesters.

"When the police tried to enter the building to check if everything was in order, the protesters tried to storm the door, but they failed. As a result, so far the police have retreated a little so as not to cause much tension," said Sergey Petrov, a correspondent for Izvestia.

It is specified that negotiations are underway between students and police representatives.

In Serbia, protesters blocked a roundabout in the town of Obrenovac on August 23. It was clarified that after that, the crowd along the traffic jam went to the city center, chanting calls for the resignation of the government.

On August 12, protests took place in Serbian Vrbas, during which almost 70 people were injured. A group of citizens of the republic expressed dissatisfaction in front of the building of the Serbian Progressive Party and its supporters. On August 13, it was reported that 64 people were injured in the protests, 16 of them policemen. The actions covered the offices of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party in Novi Sad and other cities of Serbia.

Anti-government protests began after 15 people died in the collapse of the railway station in Novi Sad in November 2024. The protesters blocked bridges and roads.
