According to a survey conducted in France, seven out of 10 citizens — 72% — support the resignation of the government of Prime Minister Francois Bayrou. This was reported on August 26 by BFMTV TV channel with reference to a study conducted by Elabe on their request.

The survey, which was attended by over 1,000 French adults, was conducted the day after Bayrou's press conference on the vote of confidence, which, as noted in the publication, if announced to the current prime Minister, could increase the risk of a financial crisis.

"72% of the respondents do not want the government of Francois Bayrou to receive a majority of support in the National Assembly. In particular, 45% of French people "do not approve at all" of the vote of confidence, and 27% — "not at all," the text says.

According to the published survey results, 21% of the survey participants "somewhat agree" with the decisions of the Bayrou government, and another 6% fully support the Prime Minister.

In addition, the survey showed that 76% of French citizens criticize the Bayrou project on the state budget, as they consider it ineffective in reducing external debt. In addition, another 82% noted that the country has problems with human resource management, according to which "efforts are not distributed fairly in accordance with the abilities of each person."

Bayrou confirmed on August 6 that France's growing debt had "crossed a critical line" and was increasing by 5,000 euros "every second." According to his forecasts, by 2029 the debt burden on the state will amount to €100 billion per year. As the Prime Minister noted, old debts are covered mainly by new borrowings.

On July 20, Le Figaro pointed to a drop in the ratings of French President Emmanuel Macron and Bayrou to record lows. It was clarified that this pair formed the "most unpopular tandem" in almost the entire history of the country. The president's approval rating was 19%, and his prime minister's was 18%.
