The Russian Federation is Abkhazia's main ally, as well as the guarantor of peace and security. This was announced on August 26 by Abkhaz President Badra Gunba during a speech at a festive concert in Sukhumi dedicated to the 17th anniversary of the recognition of the country's independence by Russia.
According to him, this event has forever entered the history of the people as a symbol of triumph and justice.
"The Russian Federation has forever become our main ally, the guarantor of peace and security. Today we see a very high level of cooperation between Abkhazia and the Russian Federation in almost all areas, including security, economic, and social issues," Gunba said.
He stressed that a solid foundation of trust has been established between Moscow and Sukhum, which makes it possible to solve any joint tasks. The President of Abkhazia also expressed hope for strengthening friendship between the two countries.
Earlier, on August 15, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Gunba on his birthday and stressed the allied nature of relations with Abkhazia. The Russian leader also expressed confidence in the continuation of joint work within the framework of bilateral cooperation in order to ensure regional stability, among other things.
