Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing official Paris of inciting anti-Semitism, insulted the whole of France. This was stated by French leader Emmanuel Macron in an open letter to an Israeli politician, its text is published by the newspaper Le Monde on August 26.

Macron stressed that Paris remains committed to Israel's security, rebuked Netanyahu for manipulating the concept of anti-Semitism for political purposes, and also recalled the numerous initiatives he took during his tenure in office to protect Jews in the republic.

"Therefore, accusations of inaction in the face of this scourge, which we are fighting with all our might, are unacceptable and an insult to the whole of France. <...> And the memory of the Holocaust does not justify the policy that Israel is pursuing in the Gaza Strip today," he wrote.

In the end, the French leader invited the head of the Israeli government "as a friend" to start working together with other international partners to achieve peace.

Netanyahu said on August 20 that Macron's intention to recognize the state of Palestine incites anti-Semitic sentiments, rewards the terror of the Palestinian Hamas movement, and toughens the movement's refusal to release hostages. The French president said that the country protects its Jewish compatriots, despite the intention to recognize the sovereignty of Palestine.

After that, on August 24, the US Ambassador to France, Charles Kushner, continued to criticize Netanyahu and sent a letter to the French president expressing "deep concern" about the surge in anti-Semitism and the inaction of the country's authorities. According to him, "not a day goes by in France without attacks on Jews, desecration of synagogues and schools, as well as vandalism of Jewish businesses."
