New mass marches against the war in the Gaza Strip have been held in Israel.
Thousands of Israelis have taken to the streets of the country again, demanding an end to the war in Gaza and the immediate return of 50 hostages who are being held captive by the Palestinian Hamas movement in tunnels in Gaza. The footage is published by Izvestia on August 26.
Nikita Kulyukhin, a correspondent for Izvestia, reported that people staged marches across the country, blocking main roads.
"These people say enough is enough, it is already clear to everyone that the war will not solve anything and will not return the hostages, but every day is critical for the hostages, because they may die without food, water and other basic conditions to survive in captivity, in which they have been held since October 7, 2023," he said. The correspondent.
Currently, the march has reached the center of Tel Aviv, and the main protest will take place at the headquarters of the Israeli army, the building of the Ministry of Defense. During the day, marchers also burned tires and set bonfires on the road, calling for reflection on the meaning of military action against Gaza.
"People are demanding that this war be stopped because it is political and continues only for political reasons, because the Israeli government wants to stay in power longer. Therefore, these protests continue," Kulyukhin concluded.
On the same day, journalists from various Arab media held a solidarity rally in Gaza City, where five members of the press were killed after a new attack by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). Mahmoud Alawadia, a journalist with Al Mayadeen TV channel, told Izvestia that the rally highlighted the need for international legal protection for members of the press in the Gaza Strip.
The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement calling on Israel to take urgent measures to prevent the deterioration of the situation in the Gaza Strip, as well as to restore humanitarian access and stop the fighting.
