On August 26, a satellite event of the V Congress of Young Scientists, a key event of the Decade of Science and Technology announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2022-2031, began its work in Tula in the Octava creative industrial cluster. The regional capital became one of the three satellite cities in 2025.

Researchers from all over the country were welcomed by Dmitry Milyaev, Governor of the Tula Region, and Denis Sekirinsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

Dmitry Milyaev thanked the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation for supporting the projects being implemented in the Tula region.

"It is a great honor for Tula today to host scientists and experts from all over the country who are participating in the satellite event. Such events raise the status of science as a whole. Today, the President of the country sets serious goals for us – to achieve not just technological sovereignty, but technological leadership. The realization of this goal depends in many ways on you – through your work, your creative potential, your desire to bring new ideas, and your courage in scientific research, you create the future of our country," Dmitry Milyaev emphasized.

Denis Sekirinsky noted that the satellite event is a new format that is a kind of response to the demands of the time. Over the past 20 years, science and technology have never been so in demand by the state, society, country, companies, and enterprises. Such events are important because they result not only in communication and scientific interaction, but also in specific projects and solutions.

Since today, more than 100 experts from 25 Russian cities in three scientific groups have begun to look for technological solutions to improve the environmental situation in the region, the use of unmanned aerial vehicles for the sustainable development of agricultural production and the use of nature-like biotechnologies to solve industrial and agricultural problems. Within three days, scientists will prepare proposals on effective methods to combat the spread of Sosnovsky hogweed, the use of new composite materials for wastewater filtration and gas emissions at industrial facilities in the region, ways to recycle spent composites, as well as technologies for the safe disposal of hazardous waste from water treatment at landfills. Based on the results of the work, the participants will present draft solutions to these tasks and recommendations.: These can be quick solutions that can be applied and get results in a short time, a full-fledged joint project and a team with the prospect of solving a problem from one to three years, or the basis for creating a federal-scale project.

The evening program of the satellite event will include a screening of the documentary "Borshchevik - the Hero of Our Time" from the FUNK Decade of Science and Technology Festival of Contemporary Scientific Cinema. Also, as part of the satellite event, the All-Russian Forum "Historical Memory of the Great Patriotic War: Preservation and Broadcasting" will be held, which will be dedicated to the regional historical and cultural standard.
