Putin expressed his condolences to the family of director Valery Uskov
Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased film director, People's Artist of the Russian Federation Valery Uskov. The corresponding telegram from the head of state was posted on the Kremlin's website on August 26.
"Please accept my deep condolences on the death of Valery Ivanovich Uskov. <...> The bright memory of this wonderful man will forever remain in the hearts of relatives, friends, colleagues, and all admirers of his generous, inspired work," the president noted.
Putin called Uskov an outstanding director and screenwriter who enriched the Russian cinema with talented works. According to him, many of the projects of the people's artist have become a real phenomenon in the cultural and social life of Russia, as well as a symbol of the national character.
Uskov died on August 24 at the age of 93. Since 1964, he has worked as a stage director at the Mosfilm film studio. He has behind him such projects as "Shadows disappear at noon", "Eternal Call", "Taiga landing", "Seasons", created jointly with Vladimir Krasnopolsky.
