- The psychologist gave advice on the moral preparation of the child for the new school year
Evgeny Lykov, a psychologist and senior lecturer at the Moscow Region Clinical Research Institute of Childhood, told how to mentally prepare a child for the new academic year.
In an interview with Radio 1 on Tuesday, August 26, the expert noted that it is advisable for children to start talking about school about two weeks before the school year. According to him, three types of readiness are important for a first—grader: cognitive - knowledge of letters and numbers, emotional—volitional — the ability to manage emotions and desires, as well as social - the ability to be among peers.
He stressed that the child needs to be gradually prepared for a new responsibility — going to school, doing homework and other duties. At the same time, as the expert noted, it is impossible to speed up adaptation: each person has his own pace of getting into the rhythm, and even adults need time to get used to after a vacation.
Lykov added that it is important for parents to understand the child's feelings, even on an intuitive level, since the child himself does not always realize what exactly is bothering him.
On August 5, child psychologist Daria Dugentsova, in an interview with RT, shared recommendations for preparing a child for the new school year. The specialist noted that the child's diet should be adjusted, making homemade dishes as similar as possible to the school menu. In addition, it is important to provide students with time to rest after class, according to 360.ru .
On August 19, the Russian Ministry of Education approved the recommended schedule for school holidays. According to the head of the department, Sergey Kravtsov, the school year will last from September 1 to May 26, and during this time students will be able to rest at least three times.
Also in August, Yulia Tokarchuk, a researcher at the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies of Modern Childhood at Moscow State Psychological and Pedagogical University (MGPPU), told the Moscow City News Agency that pocket money can be given to children from grade 1, since at the age of seven or eight a child is able to understand its value. According to her, at first it is worth delicately monitoring expenses and discussing purchases, helping to assess their expediency.
In June, child psychologist Natalia Naumova, in an interview with NSN, warned parents against "overloading" children before exams. According to her, a child needs a balance between studying and his own free time.
