The proximity of schools is an important criterion when choosing a property. For 40% of respondents who participated in the Rodina Group survey, this parameter is crucial — it influences the decision to buy or rent a home. 32% of respondents do not consider this factor to be a key one, however, 28% note that they do not pay attention to the location of the school yet, but plan to take this criterion into account in the future. The study was reviewed by Izvestia on August 28.

At the same time, only a third of all respondents (34%) believe that the main parameter when choosing a school is its transport accessibility. 28% carefully study its infrastructure, methodological plan and educational conditions in an educational institution. Advice from friends and acquaintances turns out to be a fairly significant factor — 21% of parents rely on the personal experience of those they trust, 17% of respondents rely on ratings and reviews on the Internet to verify the quality of education.

"A high-quality and safe school environment is also an important factor in choosing an educational institution. Well—designed spaces help to increase the safety of educational institutions and avoid many logistical difficulties," says Oksana Demyanenko, Director of the International Gymnasium of the Skolkovo Innovation Center.

According to a study by the Rodina Group, the majority of Moscow residents (64%) are ready to move in order to provide a child with the opportunity to study at a particular school, 22% of parents do not consider a housing change to be a necessary measure, and 14% have not yet decided on this issue.

"In almost every district of Moscow today, you can find prestigious schools and kindergartens with a high level of education and development. This significantly expands the choice of housing for families with children. Having a high—quality educational institution nearby remains one of the important factors when buying an apartment, but now parents can focus not only on individual "top" schools, but also choose areas with a developed and diverse educational infrastructure, convenient transport accessibility and a comfortable living environment," the real estate agency Union of Moscow Developers noted.

Anton Wiener, co-owner and co-founder of the Rodina Group, concluded that high-quality infrastructure for children is becoming one of the key factors in the attractiveness of residential areas. As he noted, modern parents choose "not just square meters, but a thoughtful and safe place for active life of families with children." A harmonious environment for a child's development is not only a school, but also a safe house territory that motivates learning and exploring the world.

On August 16, Professor Vadim Vinogradov, Dean of the HSE Faculty of Law, announced that starting in September 2026, an annual payment will be made for families with two or more children, which is a refund of a portion of the previously paid personal income tax. It will be provided if there are children in the family who have not reached the age of majority, or persons under the age of 23 who are enrolled in full-time education programs.
