Onishchenko mentioned the advantages of introducing requirements for school uniforms

School uniforms have a number of medical advantages over the casual style of children's clothing in educational institutions. This was stated on August 26 by Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Gennady Onishchenko during a briefing "Medical results of the summer: how can I protect my child from viruses in the new school season?"

In his opinion, school uniforms are necessary to maintain the health of schoolchildren. First of all, the first layer of clothing (underwear) is made of natural materials that do not irritate the baby's skin. In addition, school uniforms are designed for seasonal temperatures, which reduces the risk of colds among students.

In addition, the form, according to Onishchenko, participates in the pedagogical process and does not allow social inequality between children. The academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences noted that children like to compete with each other, but this process should concern knowledge, not clothes.

"This is the right decision [the introduction of a unified school uniform] on the part of the state. It needs to be supported, the need to be explained. <...> Those who object to school uniforms are the people who overwhelmingly <...>.. They don't think about children's health at all," Onishchenko concluded.
