The weather in September in Russia is expected to be moderate, without sharp climatic anomalies. Alexander Shuvalov, head of the Meteo forecasting center, told Izvestia about this in an interview on August 27.

According to him, a characteristic feature of the month will be weather close to long—term standards in most of the country, from the western borders to Siberia.

In the middle zone of the European part of Russia, in the Urals and southern Siberia, the temperature will correspond to seasonal indicators, although short-term fluctuations are possible during the month. In the north of Siberia, in particular, in Taimyr, Yamal and the northern regions of Yakutia, the abnormally warm weather that was observed in August will continue. At least in the first half of September, temperatures will remain above normal in cities such as Norilsk, Salekhard and Torukhansk.

In the south of the European territory of Russia, including Krasnodar, Stavropol, Astrakhan and Simferopol, the warm weather will last only in the first decade, after which temperature indicators will return to normal. The most changeable weather, according to the forecaster, is expected in the Far East. Heavy precipitation and frequent temperature fluctuations are forecast in Primorsky Krai, Sakhalin and the southern part of Khabarovsk Krai.

"Primorsky Krai, Sakhalin, the south of the Khabarovsk Territory, there may be more than the required amount of precipitation and a significant change in temperature conditions throughout the month," said Shuvalov.

As for the capital, Moscow, which is part of the middle band, will welcome September with a relatively warm first decade. This will be followed by a gradual decrease in temperature, and by the end of the month, deviations below the climatic norm are possible. At the same time, the expert did not rule out the onset of Indian summer, a period of dry and warm weather after the first autumn rains. However, the exact timing of its start is still difficult to determine.

"September will be an ordinary September in general. Without focusing on the anomaly. I believe that the beginning of September will please the residents of the middle zone, and there will be Indian summer too," the expert concluded.

Tatiana Pozdnyakova, chief specialist of the Meteonosti news agency, told Izvestia on August 25 that, despite the fact that over the coming week the temperature in Moscow will be 3-4 degrees below the climatic norm, a "surge of heat" is expected by August 30-31.
