The State Duma proposed to ban paid parking at schools and hospitals in Moscow
The State Duma proposed banning the installation of paid parking in Moscow near schools, kindergartens, medical institutions and other social facilities. With such an initiative, Yaroslav Nilov, head of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs, addressed Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of the capital for Transport, and Alexey Shaposhnikov, Chairman of the Moscow City Duma. This was reported by TASS on August 26.
Nilov said that such a ban helps to increase the availability of services for Muscovites and will have a positive impact on their lives. The current practice of organizing paid parking creates difficulties for citizens, especially for families with children, the disabled and people with disabilities, he noted.
The parliamentarian cited the example of other regions where measures have been taken against paid parking near social facilities. For example, St. Petersburg practices exemption from parking fees near educational and medical institutions, while Kaluga limits the number of paid parking spaces near all social facilities. Similar measures are common abroad.
Earlier, on August 22, it became known that the State Duma had prepared a bill according to which a fine would be increased for the illegal installation of a sign "Disabled", and for repeated violations it was assumed that a driver's license would be revoked.
