Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Serbian President Alexander Vucic had a telephone conversation during which they discussed the situation in Kosovo and Republika Srpska (RS, an entity within Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH). This was announced on August 26 on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
"They noted the fundamental importance of UN Security Council Resolution 1244 in the context of the Kosovo settlement and the need for strict implementation by all Bosnian parties of the Dayton Agreements, which provide a clear international legal framework for relations between the two entities and the three state-forming peoples in BiH," the message added.
It is noted that during the conversation, a number of important issues were also touched upon, including the further development of cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the strategic partnership.
The parties confirmed their mutual interest in continuing a productive political dialogue between Russia and Serbia, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
On the same day, Vucic said that he had had a "long and cordial" conversation with Lavrov on bilateral cooperation. He noted that the Russian Federation and Serbia are striving to further develop communication in various forums, organizations and institutions at the international level.
