MAX Messenger has increased protection against phone scams

Kaspersky Lab and the national messenger MAX have implemented the ability to automatically verify numbers using Kaspersky Who Calls technologies, the messenger's press service reported.

"This will provide MAX users with an additional level of protection against phone fraud. This need is driven by the cyber threat landscape: according to Kaspersky Who Calls, in the first half of 2025, the share of users in Russia who received "classic" calls from unknown numbers with suspected fraud was 57%," the report says.

The integration of technologies will provide users with information about the reputation of the number, the category of the organization and its name when communicating in the messenger, they noted. Kaspersky Lab's solution uses a range of technologies, including several machine learning models, to identify potential fraudulent numbers.

As part of the joint project, the companies are also analyzing the numbers registered with MAX to counter fraud attempts in the messenger, the press service stressed.

Earlier it was reported that the Sber provided the MAX team with its own expertise and technological base for detecting suspicious transactions and calls.
