There have been 354 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours.

Over the past day, 354 road accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 45 people were killed and 426 injured. This was reported to Izvestia on August 26 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

There were 21 accidents involving buses in which there were no fatalities, and 24 more road users needed medical help. The reason for the four incidents were traffic violations committed by bus drivers.

As a result of 89 accidents involving pedestrians, nine people were killed, including one minor, and 86 others were injured in various degrees of severity. There are 20 children among the injured, eight of them injured at pedestrian crossings. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 28 occurred at pedestrian crossings and 61 outside their area of operation.

62 accidents involving minors were registered, in which 64 young road users were injured, including 20 pedestrians, 25 passengers and 18 underage drivers. Five children were killed in the accident.

So, in the Primorsky Territory, in the morning, on 426 km of the federal highway A-370 "Ussuri", a 28-year-old driver, driving a crossover, drove into the oncoming lane while overtaking at a bend in the road and collided with a car moving in the opposite direction. As a result of the accident, a 12-year-old passenger of the car was killed, who was in the front seat and was not wearing a seat belt. Both drivers were injured and were hospitalized.

In the Volgograd region, in the afternoon, in one of the villages, a 41-year-old intoxicated man who did not have a driver's license drove a motorcycle with a side trailer off the road and crashed into a power pole. As a result of the accident, his seven-year-old passenger, who was in a side trailer without a helmet, died. The driver and another passenger of the motorcycle were injured and were hospitalized.

In the Yaroslavl region, on a regional road, a 40-year-old passenger car driver overook into oncoming traffic, where it was prohibited, and collided with a truck moving in the opposite direction. After the collision, the passenger car caught fire. As a result of the accident, the driver and three passengers of the car, including a 13-year-old boy in the back seat, were killed.

In the Republic of Khakassia, in the evening, on a country road, a 37-year-old truck driver, without a driver's license and intoxicated, drove off the road, after which the car overturned. As a result of the accident, a six-year-old passenger who was in the back was killed. Two more children, aged 10 and 12, who were also in the back, were injured and were hospitalized.

In the Samara region, in the evening on the highway, a 19-year-old car driver with driving experience of just over a year ran over two 16- and 15-year-old teenagers who were on the side of the road. After that, the car left the road and overturned. As a result of the accident, both pedestrians were killed. The driver was injured and was hospitalized.

"We urge motorists to transport children in strict accordance with current safety regulations. Remember that not only your life and health depend on your driving skills, driving experience, well—being and law-abiding driving behavior, but also the safety of other road users, including their most vulnerable category - children. Strictly observe traffic regulations and driving discipline. Do not exceed the speed limit, avoid dangerous maneuvers and entering the oncoming lane. Be attentive, collected, do not get distracted while driving and constantly monitor the traffic situation," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

On August 25, the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate announced a citywide preventive event on the eve of the new school year. It will be held from August 25 to September 5. On September 1, the entrances to all schools will be under special control of traffic inspectors, and traffic police posts will be close to them. In each district of the capital, traffic police will hold various events, promotions and briefings with schoolchildren and their parents.
