A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. The North group of troops hit the manpower and equipment of the Ukrainian armed forces in the Sumy region and in the Kharkiv direction. As a result of the actions of Russian servicemen, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) lost more than 160 militants, two armored combat vehicles, ten vehicles, two artillery pieces, two ammunition and fuel depots.

In addition, the units of the Zapad group of forces improved their tactical position, and the Southern Group of Forces took more advantageous positions and hit enemy manpower and equipment in the DPR.

"Divisions of the Center group of Forces <... They defeated formations of three mechanized brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a marine brigade and a National Guard brigade in the areas of the settlements of Udachnoye, Krasnoarmeysk, Krasny Liman, Rodinskoye, Muravka and Dimitrov of the Donetsk People's Republic. The losses of the Ukrainian armed forces amounted to up to 400 military personnel, seven armored combat vehicles, including a Canadian-made Senator armored car, six vehicles and a field artillery piece," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The Russian army, with the help of operational and tactical aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), missiles and artillery, defeated control points and drone launch sites, as well as temporary locations of Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries in 142 districts. In turn, air defense systems shot down six guided aerial bombs, a long-range Neptune missile and 191 aircraft-type drones.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, since the beginning of the special operation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost 665 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 79,664 UAVs, 625 anti-aircraft missile systems, 24,797 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,588 multiple rocket launchers, 28,928 field artillery and mortars, 40,423 pieces of special vehicles.
