On August 26, the Lithuanian Parliament approved Minister of Labor and Social Protection Inga Ruginene for the post of Prime Minister of the Republic. The broadcast was carried out on the LRT (Lithuanian Radio and Television) portal

At an extraordinary meeting of parliament, 78 deputies voted for Ruginene's candidacy, 35 were against, and another 14 abstained.

After the formation of the new government, the Minister needs to obtain its approval from Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda. Then, in September, she will have a second vote in parliament to approve the manifesto.

Lithuanian Prime Minister Gintautas Palutskas announced his resignation on July 31. Later, on August 4, the Lithuanian government, headed by Palutskas, resigned. As noted by the Delfi publication, the outgoing government of the Baltic country has worked for only eight months.

On August 6, the ruling Social Democratic Party of Lithuania (SDPL) nominated Ruginene for the post of Prime Minister of the country.
