Swimmer Zhidkov shared his emotions after the record at the World Championships in Romania

Russian junior swimmers set a world record in the 4x100m freestyle relay at the World Championships in Romania. One of the athletes, Roman Zhidkov, admitted to Izvestia on August 26 that the results exceeded all his expectations.

"We originally planned to break the Russian record, but it turned out to be a world record. <...> Now we are all very tired, I think a wave of emotions will cover us in about a couple of days," he said.

Russian athletes competed in a neutral status. Together with Zhidkov, the team was represented by Mikhail Shcherbakov, Egor Proshin and Grigory Zlotnikov. The swimmers showed a result of 3 minutes 15.38 seconds. Grigory Vekovishchev became the 400 m World champion, and Egor Babinich won silver.

On August 2, Russian swimmers set a European record and won a silver medal at the World Aquatics Championships in the 4x100 m freestyle mixed relay. The Russian team consisted of Egor Kornev, Ivan Girev, Daria Trofimova and Daria Klepikova.
