A sandstorm has hit the center of Phoenix in the US state of Arizona. This was reported on August 26 by The Associated Press.

Due to the storm, more than 40 thousand people were left without electricity. The local Sky Harbor International Airport was also damaged. According to the US Federal Aviation Administration, due to bad weather, the airport suspended aircraft shipments for half an hour.

Earlier, on June 22, three people, including two children, were killed in a severe storm with heavy rains in central New York. According to the Oneido County Sheriff, the accidents occurred as a result of the fall of two different trees.
